Tournaments Added, other updates too
Just to update you we've added some more tournaments to the LANapalooza 6 games list. These include Starcraft, Heroes of Newerth and Left 4 Dead 2. Please be sure to sign up for these and other tournaments here. Also we are looking at changing DotA to being a team-based tournament instead of 1vs1, more updates on this to come soon. We've updated the waiver, please download a new copy to print and sign before you come to the event. This will help speed up your registration process at the door. Also, on the Xbox/Console/Non-BYOC front the price to get in will be $15. You can either prepay this or pay at the door (there is no prepay discount for this category). There will be TV's there but if you want you can bring your own console/TV, we will have space and power for you to setup at. More updates to come soon. Remember to do your part and help your fellow LAN'ers out by spreading the word about this event!

Tournament Updates
Hey all,
We've been looking at modifying the current tournament line-up by adding a few titles. In the RTS category we're thinking of adding Heroes of Newerth and another title (ie StarCraft or another popular title) to go with Warcraft 3: DotA. On the FPS side, some thoughts include COD4, Left 4 Dead 2 and perhaps doing a Unreal Tournament FFA.
We're also looking at adjusting how the cash prizing works on the 1vs1 tournaments like Quake Live for example. We will be doing a winner-take-all format, where the person who comes in first place takes the full pot for the tournament while second place will be awarded hardware. This will encourage much more intense competition and result in a bigger prize! I'll get a template posted soon to show what the prize will be based on the # of participants, but simple math will tell you: #/participants * $20/participant = $tournament_pot = $1st_place_prize. So for instance with 20 participants you would have a prize of $400.
If you are interested in the Quake Live 1vs1 tournament let us know what your thoughts are on increasing only for Quake Live the tournament entry fee from $20 to $25. Although you'll be paying more this will increase the size of the tournament pot and make for a more attractive prize. Please e-mail us.
In other news we've updated some of our various groups and event postings, they're public so feel free to join them so you can see updates easily on ZPE news and future events there too. Also, please invite any other locals and other interested players to join too and help us strengthen the E-sports community in the Toronto area:
Facebook ZPE Group (Facebook LP6 Event)
Steam ZPE Group
Twitter Page
IMPORTANT! ATTENDEES PLEASE READ:
Many people miss this link which is located on top of the LANapalooza signup list. It is important to get signed up for the tournament(s) you are interested in participating in. This way everyone knows who will be competing in what game.

June 20th you say?? Why that's fathers day! It's a good thing a lot of dads like games too, this is why we would like to invite any dads who come with their sons/daughters to get into the event and play completely free! This LAN is father friendly!!
WHO WANTS TO HELP??
If you arrive on Friday morning early you will be lucky enough to have the chance to help us setup! As payment you will recieve a reduced entrance fee of only $20, and as a bonus if you stay and help clean up at the end of the event, you will get that $20 back! WOW! We are also looking for event staff, server admins and referees. Please drop us a line if your interested in helping and to find out more.
What will we eat? As always we will have Pizzaville hot and ready throughout the entire tournament and the energy drinks will flow like water. Bawls, Rockstar, Monster, and Redbull are on the menu. We are looking into possible catering for the event and will post info as it becomes available.
Where can we sleep? Due to the large space we have available, a small tent would be the most private way to rest up and is completely acceptable. Most people just bring an air mattress and a sleeping bag, then sleep near or at (or under) their desk, which is just fine as well. If you leave with any hardware between the hours of 11pm to 8am you MUST check out with a staff member and your outgoing hardware will be logged. There will be an active camera and DVR system keeping watch over the entire event this year so keep in mind that any actions you take while at the event are being recorded.
Well that pretty much wraps it up for now, we will keep you posted as our event shapes up.

Library LAN Report
Anonymous writes "Although the turnout was modest the Library LAN turned out to be a fun event with some decent prize money. Three Source teams showed up to compete for cash prizes, Detox, DKOA and Chooch. After a number of round robins and a double elimination tournament DKOA was declared the winner and awarded the 1st place prize of $200, Chooch came in second with $100. Lots of laughs were had by many during the Gungame tournament and the prize ceremony. The Gungame winner was awarded the prize of the first swings of a sledgehammer at a decrepid old file server. Needless to say, the gamers were victorious.
Demos from some of the Source matches have been posted for download. Also check out the gallery for some of the pictures from the LAN.
Stay tuned for updates, we've got plans for another event coming in May at the usual hockey arena (this time with a written and signed agreement preventing any last-minute surprises). We're also on the lookout for more locations closer to Toronto so we can offer LAN tournaments to other communities than just Aurora. Hope those that weren't able to make it out to this event can attend the next! "

LAN Shortened
We have some sad news to report, unfortunately the Town of Aurora managed to double-book the event location. Another group was booked in the same location from 8am to lunch on Sunday. Even though we would have been using a different part of the building just having our event there at the same time as they were was not acceptable and we would have been required to vacate the location by midnight on Saturday.
We will still run the event at this location, however everyone must be out with their equipment by Saturday at midnight, even though the other group will not even be there until 8am. We are going to try and see if the town can be reasoned with to allow us to stay past midnight. We'll let you know as soon as we hear any further updates.

An Update on February LAN
vice writes "Hello all! We are pleased to announce we have hit our minimum ammount of players for this LAN so its officially GAME ON!!!
Please note there are only a few more days to take advantage of the prepayment discount, after January 28th the option ends and it will be $25 at the door.
Here are some of the details we have hashed out over the last while:
DORK Army will not be present but we will allow space for consoles, you will have to bring all your gear as the dork's gear will not be there. We do have 2 projectors available for console tournament use if we get enough interested players. Otherwise we will use the projectors for our own selfish needs!
The official tournament games we will be playing are COD MW2 for PC, CS 1.6 and CS SOURCE. We will help you announce any other games you'd like to play at the event.
The COD MW2 Details are as follows:
5 vs. 5 round robin team deathmatch, top two teams will play best of 5 matches of search and destroy.
The CS Source and 1.6 Details are as follows:
5 vs 5 round robins starting saturday morning followed by double elimination rounds to finnish things off.
We will not be hosting any official console games however we're always open to running a tourney if there's enough local interest.
There will not be any food for sale other than pizza, POP, water and juice. We will also have rockstar for sale.
Sleeping arrangements have not changed, we have the space for air mattresses if you choose to bring one or if you want the extra privacy/security bring a (small) tent.
Any questions let us know via email, look forward to seeing you at the LAN!
